Pianist, Teacher, Music Maker
Currently based in Los Angeles - performing, teaching, and producing original acoustic and electronic music at my studio in Burbank.
I was born in the San Francisco and raised in Marin County. At an early age I played whatever instruments I could get my hands on, eventually focusing on the keyboard and studying classical piano. In high school I took lessons with Gary Marks who shared with me his unique approach to piano, music theory, improvisation, jazz, and song writing. During this time, I started performing locally in bars and cafes with my original band and as a sideman.
I went to UC Berkeley where I had the opportunity to study African music with CK Ladzekpo and jazz with acclaimed pianist Bill Bell. During college I continued writing original music and performing throughout California until eventually relocating to the Philadelphia Area.
In Philadelphia I began teaching privately as well as performing professionally. I studied jazz piano, Afro-Cuban music, and music theory with Orlando Fiol. While in Philly I had the chance work with and learn from some of the top musicians in the jazz, soul, and latin jazz scene, as well as the unique opportunity to learn about playing gospel music.
